==== Birth ====
Levi Martin McCoy was born 9.Sep.1824 in Hamilton, Jackson, OH.  His parents were Michael McCoy and Elizabeth E. Mercer.

==== Name ====
Levi's name was probably given in remembrance of his maternal grandparents, Levi Dallas Mercer and Sarah Martin.

==== Marriage ====
On 13.Jul.1848, Levi married Mahala Graham.  The marriage took place in Jackson County, OH.

==== Military ====
During the Civil War, Levi served as a private in Company I, 172nd Regiment, Ohio Infantry (Union Army).

===== Religious Affiliation =====
Levi donated land for the Hamilton Christian Church.  This church was established c.1821 by a Rev. Summerbell.  It is not known whether Rev. Summerbell and early church members considered themselves part of a larger religious denomination or organization.  The church met initially in homes and school houses, then erected a church building in 1871 -- perhaps on the land donated by Levi.

Levi died at age 65 in Morgan, Scioto, OH.  His grave is in Bear Creek Cemetery, Bear Creek, Scioto, OH.
