Lucretia Marshall (1837-1866)

Birth

Assuming the information on relevant census records is accurate, Lucretia was born sometime in 1836 or 1837. Some family trees show her as born in Jan.1837, but this is unconfirmed. Lucretia's parents were Richard F. Marshall and Sarah “Sally” Hall.

Death of Father

Lucretia's father died in 1845 when Lucretia was 8 years old. The 1850 census record shows her, along with her mother and two sisters, living in the household of John Brust and his wife Lucy (an older sister of Lucretia).

Marriage

Lucretia married Samuel Blizzard sometime after 1850, perhaps in 1855 or 1856.

Samuel Blizzard - Military Death

Samuel Blizzard died on 23.Apr.1863 in Millikens Bend, Louisiana while serving in the Ohio Volunteer Army during the Civil War. His grave is in Vicksburg National Cemetery. It is not know whether Lucretia died before or after Samuel.

Death

Lucretia was alive at the time of the 1860 census, but probably died sometime before 1866. 1) The location of Lucretia's grave is unknown.

1) In 1866, Jacob Hoober (husband of Lucretia's sister Elizabeth), acting as guardian, applied for military pension benefits for Samuel Blizzards surviving minor children. Also, census records for 1870 show Lucretia's children Sarah Jane and John Wesley living in the household of a Robert Cissna. No census or other records have been found for Lucretia's daughter Ida after 1860.
