Birth
Zachariah A. Miles was born 15.Feb.1838 in Meigs County, OH. His/Her parents were Noah Miles and Elizabeth Jane Marshall.
Marriage
On 1.May.1866, Zachariah married Lucinda Marshall. The marriage took place in Portsmouth, Scioto, OH.
Military
During the Civil War, Zachariah served in Company D of the 56th Regiment of the Ohio Infantry (Union Army). At the time of his enlistment, on 8.Oct.1861, he was living in Union, Scioto, OH. He was wounded on 1.May.1863 during the Battle of Port Gibson, which resulted in the first Union victory of the Vicksburg Campaign. Zachariah was mustered out in New Orleans, LA on 12.Nov.1864
Residence
After their marriage, Zachariah and Lucinda moved west. The 1870 census record shows them in Monon, White, IN. They moved on to Illinois and by 1876 were in Illinois. They settled in Sheldon, Iroquois, IL and spent the rest of their lives in that area.
Death
Zachariah died at age 54 on 8.Qpr.1892 in Sheldon, Iroquois, IL. His grave is in Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, Iroquois, IL.
